What is counselling?

Counselling is talk therapy, involving client/s and counsellor… the client talks, the counsellor listens and encourages the client to work through the issues and equip and enable the client to thrive!

Counselling is not about giving advice...the counsellor will engage the client in such away that encourage the client to explore possibilities for change….

Counselling is holistic in that emotional, spiritual and physical aspects are explored.

Counselling can help with issues such as;

  • Grief and loss
  • Trauma
  • Anger
  • Depression
  • Sexual issues
  • Parenting skills
  • Relationship issues
  • Communication skills
  • Conflict resolutions
  • Stress
  • Attitudes and responses
  • Goal setting and personal problems
  • Anxiety

How long will the counselling process last?

Every client and their issues are unique and therefore so is the process for each one. Perspective Counselling suggests an initial period of
8 – 10 weekly 1 hour sessions to get off to a flying start and build a healthy professional rapport between counsellor and client.
At the end of this time progress is assessed by client and counsellor and the next plan of action agreed upon
